Replay tape too short? Too few replays? Use 60Hz!

Postby Leftos on Wed Nov 04, 2015 9:01 am

The replays are recorded at the framerate the game was running when the action happened, but the memory and disc space devoted to them is the same, which means that if you're running the game with V-Sync off or with a refresh rate higher than 60Hz, you might get a shorter replay tape than intended, which might cause some action not to be recorded as replays at all. We're looking into making sure the replay tape is limited to 60FPS for the future, but this might help some of you for now.

Hi Leftos,

I've tried that but still doesn't work. I have 144hz monitor. I've tried 60hz w/ and w/o vsync, 120hz and 144hz but still the replays were cut short. Disabled antivirus, verified game cache on steam. But still doesn't work. Maybe i have to try to re-download the whole game on steam again? urgh  :?

Please be more specific. There are replays for (1) fouls, (2) dunks (one of which is DUNK CAM replay), (3) jump shots and (4) and ones. So all of them are cut short?

That is odd. Was this changed from the past? I always though the action was captured in the game engine so you could play it back like an instant replay. Did 2K change it?

IIRC, When 2K9 came out on PC, I could take a replay file from the cache folder and rename it to a saved replay with the proper extension and put it in the save folder and watch it. It usually had multiple possession plays on it.

To be honest, this replay bug has been there since NBA 2K15's final months till 2K16 released. I would hit someone with a crossover move, and-one and even sometimes game winner shots and the replay would be cut short only showing either the player getting up after a contact attempt or foul.

I don't think the and-one replays showing only the reaction after the foul is related to this. I think that's a separate issue.

Whatever you say,
in my point of view replay is a replay

Mine got finally fixed. I just re-install 2k16 in steam and deleted the config file in > appdata>roaming>nba2k16. Then I let it install the updates. I also make sure that the steamlibrary is in the exeption list of my Kaspersky antivirus. Then launch 2k16 and go to video settings. Even if i have a 144hz monitor i didn't change the refresh rate and just stayed in 60 hz/ Vsync-ON. Set every settings to max. I tried to play exhibition, and then finally all the replays are now showing. But I had experience some input lag on my xbox one controller were it could just because of my monitor uses 144hz but the game only has 60hz just like other games. I just set the maximum pre-rendered frames to "1" via Nvidia Control Panel then the input lag has gone. Everything works fine now on my 2k16 except the SWEAT  But I could try to use the Cheat Engine Sweat from the other thread.

bumping this as i'm desperate to try to fix. I've tried running my game at 60hz and with both vsync settings on, as well as with just vsync on but dynamic off, as well as turning my windows desktop refresh rate to 60hz as well, but none of those worked. I've also tried setting my desktop refresh rate to 60hz and running in borderless windowed, but nothing seems to work..

Fouls, jumpers, and ones are all cut short, as is the instant replay feature from the pause menu. dunk cams work though, both types, and sometimes the non kia one is also used for the odd flashy layup which also gets caught.

total shot in the dark here but its the only thing keeping this from being perfect for me now! much appreciated

Wow, dont want to wash your expectations, but i see no chance that leftos or 2K give you a fix for a 6 years old game now.

btw, thanx i didnt remember this thread.
Not a surprise, 2K has issues with vsync off since 2k9
