NBA 2K13’s Executive Producer is Jay-Z?

Ronnie2K has put out another cryptic teaser for the upcoming, unprecedented, NBA 2K13 announcement saying that Michael Jordan himself wanted to help out. Well, rapper Jay-Z’s social media sites may have spilled the beans early, claiming that NBA 2K13 is Executive Produced by Jay-Z.

The announcement includes a short teaser uploaded to YouTube, touting the rapper’s involvement, and showing Michael Jordan along with cover players Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, and Derrick Rose in empty practice arenas. The lighting of the players tells me it is not a fake PC 2K12 trailer, and the promotion from Jay-Z’s Twitter and Facebook pages seem to lend credibility to the announcement.

NBA 2K13’s Community Team-Up Program Announced

LD2k’s latest Tumblr update details the new Community Team-Up Program for NBA 2K13. The program sounds familiar to those who know about EA’s Advisory Council for NBA Live 13, but they explain that:

The 2K Sports “Community Team-Up” program is where we fly in some of our biggest fans and community members of NBA 2K, providing them with an exclusive look at NBA 2K13 and sharing some details with them pre-launch. They can then share the information we provide to them with the community.

The first two community members involved in the program were announced as well. Popular YouTube player Chris Smoove will be making the trip, as is Shady00018, also known as Rush here in the NLSC Forum.

Countdown to NBA Live 13 & NBA 2K13

NLSC Logo - Stitching

It’s just over a couple of months until the release of NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13, so we’re starting our countdown game in the NLSC Forum! For those who are unfamiliar with it, the game involves posting pictures of players wearing the jersey number that corresponds to the number of days left until the games are released. Since quite a few jersey numbers above #55 have not been worn by any NBA players, creativity is encouraged!

We’ve got a countdown thread for each game this year, so if you miss out on posting your favourite player in one countdown you’ve got a chance to post them in the other one.

Join in the fun today and be a part of the latest discussion in the NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 sections of the Forum!

NBA 2K13 Cover Reveal Coming Tomorrow

The teaser image for the NBA 2K13 cover has officially been completely revealed, leading to the announcement that the cover itself will be unveiled tomorrow. The common interpretation of the clues is that Blake Griffin (blue griffins), Derrick Rose (red roses) and Kevin Durant (gold tarantula) are the players being hinted at in the teaser, suggesting either a cover featuring all three players or perhaps more likely, three different covers similar to NBA 2K12.

The Brooklyn Bridge is also featured in the teaser, with the common suggestion being that it may represent either Michael Jordan or Carmelo Anthony, both of whom have ties to Brooklyn. We’ll have the answer very soon but in the meantime, what are your final guesses for the three (or four) players that the clues likely represent? The Future of NBA Video Games (MyNBALivePad.com)

Corey of MyNBALivePad.com has posted a very interesting feature article titled “The Future of NBA Video Games”, which you can check out here. The article examines aspects of basketball video games that Corey feels haven’t been perfected in any title as yet, things that need to be done to take basketball games to the next level as we move forward.

It’s definitely a great read and the kind of stuff that bears mentioning in future Wishlists, so be sure to give it a look and give Corey some feedback. Clues for NBA 2K13 Cover Reveal Leaked

It appears as though the clues for the NBA 2K13 cover reveal have been leaked. The teaser image, intended to be unveiled gradually as fans continue to Tweet #UncoverNBA2K, has been revealed in full and posted on several sites including the NLSC Forum.

The image features two blue griffins, several red roses and a gold tarantula, seemingly representing Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. If so, this would suggest that NBA 2K13 will feature all three of those players on the cover, or alternatively three different covers as NBA 2K12 did with Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

You can check out the full teaser image below. What do you make of these clues? Sound off in the comments below as well as here in the NBA 2K13 section of the Forum.
