Referee Pool
The Referee Pool (sometimes just referred to as Referees) is a special hidden team in the NBA Live series to which the game's referees are assigned. Players assigned to the Referee Pool will not show up in the active rosters and cannot be signed by NBA teams, however this is not the preferred method of retiring players as they will randomly show up on the sidelines as referees if assigned to the Referee Pool. The traditional Team ID number for the Referee Pool is 38.
Games in the series that have included unlockable players also make use of the Referee Pool to store players until they are unlocked. Although not unlockable via a code, former NBA players Dee Brown and Larry Nance have appeared in the players.dbf file in recent games assigned to the Referee Pool and can be added to the active rosters or Legends teams through DBF editing.
