NBA Live 14 Confirmed for Next Gen Consoles

It appears that NBA Live 14 will indeed be coming to the Playstation 4 and the next generation Xbox which is set to be announced in an hour. Polygon has an article up quoting Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen in a conference today confirming the game will be released on “Gen 4” consoles, aka the PS4 and the new Xbox.

Speculation has it that NBA Live 14 may be shown in some capacity in today’s Xbox event, so be sure to keep an eye on the main page of NLSC and our NBA Live 14 Forum. Thanks to Steve over at Operation Sports for sharing the news on his Twitter.

JaoSming’s Predictions #6: Next Gen Features & X-Factors

The final prediction video in this year’s series has been uploaded. With Microsoft revealing its competitor to Sony’s Playstation 4 in a few hours, I look at next generation predictions and some x-factors for both games to find success.

Thank you for following the series of videos, I hope you enjoyed watching them as much as I have reading and responding to the feedback. Remember to share your predictions in the comments, and for a recap of all my predictions check out the Forum Thread. I’ll be back in a few days to recap the experience and directly respond to some feedback.

More NBA Live 14 Teases on Social Media

EA Sports continues to tease an announcement regarding NBA Live 14 with new posts on the game’s official Facebook and Twitter, mentioning a “countdown to tip-off” alongside a photograph of a basketball. This perhaps serves as another hint that we will be getting a glimpse at the game during Microsoft’s announcement of the new Xbox tomorrow.

It seems safe to say that the preview season is right around the corner but in the meantime, feel free to continue to speculate in the comments below, as well as in the NBA Live 14 section of the Forum.

JaoSming’s Predictions #5: Custom & Special Teams

This is the second to last prediction video, I hope you all have enjoyed the series so far. This was by far the most difficult video for me to do, since I have never played the MyTEAM mode or any of EA Sport’s Ultimate Team modes. Other than that, the continued FIBA talk for NBA Live 14 and my feelings on retro teams in NBA 2K14 was simple in comparison, even if my predictions may seem a bit exuberant.

Remember to respond and share your own predictions in the comments below, and check out the Forum Thread as well.

NBA Live 14 Twitter Teasers Continue

The official EA Sports NBA Live Twitter continued to tease NBA Live 14 today with a possible snapshot from a trailer. The picture shows a basketball filled in with various basketball themed words. The words include; court, move, loud, cheers, team, practice, penalty, free throw, defense, score, etc. Nothing too specific to tip off any features other than possibly a foundational game.

You can click to read more to see the teaser image in its full resolution, and be sure to jump into the discussion in the comments and in our NBA Live 14 Forum.

JaoSming’s Predictions #4: Graphics & Presentation

With only two more days until Microsoft reveals its next generation console, and possibly the first information and footage for the next generation of basketball video games, let’s cover graphics and presentation today. While gameplay should still be the core of any basketball game, these aspects make it easier to get lost and enjoy even subpar games more than we normally would.

So, if you want to share your own predictions or respond to mine, you can do so in the comments below or in this Forum Thread.

General File Additions: NBA 2K Court Creation Tutorial

As mentioned in Episode #29 of the NLSC Podcast, R4zoR has recently developed an exciting new technique for creating custom courts for the NBA 2K series. In short, if you can draw or import an image in Photoshop or GIMP, you can add it to a court in the game. He’s very kindly put together a tutorial and pack of resources for anyone who would like to try their hand at modding courts, in a package that you can download at the link below.

JaoSming’s Predictions #3: Career & Franchise Modes

Continuing right along with my prediction series for features I think we’ll see and play in NBA 2K14 and NBA Live 14, today the focus is on the Career and Franchise modes. While last year we saw the social media shift from My Player to MyCAREER in NBA 2K13, and with EA teasing and previewing Become Legendary for NBA Elite 11, I see a vast difference between the two modes. For franchise modes, well, I’m not sure that with the next generation of consoles coming out that these modes will get the attention they surely deserve.

What are you thoughts on these single player modes? Share them in the comments section below and in the updated Forum Thread.

EA Sports confirms NBA Live 14 on Twitter

After NBA Live 14 was mentioned as an upcoming title in EA’s fiscal report last week, it appears as though the game has more or less been officially announced as a new Tweet has been posted on the game’s official Twitter. The Tweet simply reads:

#NBALIVE14 coming to a court near you… #WeAreLIVE

It would seem that initial details about the game are right around the corner, so we’ll of course be posting any information as it becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to leave your comments below, as well as join in the discussion in the NBA Live 14 section of the Forum.

JaoSming’s Predictions #2: Online & Gameplay Improvements

For the second prediction video I take a look at what improvements I think we’ll see in both gameplay and online features for the upcoming basketball games. Trying to figure out whether EA or 2K will go conservative or innovative in these categories has always been difficult to predict in the past for me, but I have no issue being wrong for the sake of a better game.

After watching, please share your thoughts on my predictions, or better yet share your own predictions on what we will see with the gameplay and online features in NBA 2K14 or NBA Live 14 in the comments below or in the Forum Thread.

The Friday Five: Enjoying the Playoffs (When Your Team Is Out)

It’s Friday, already? It is indeed, which means it’s time for another edition of The Friday Five! For anyone who’s checking out The Friday Five for the first time, this is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

If you’ve been keeping up with the results of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, you’re no doubt aware that my favourite team, the Chicago Bulls, have been eliminated in the second round in five games at the hands of the defending champion Miami Heat. As such, I’ll be looking for other ways to enjoy and maintain my interest in the rest of the postseason. If you’re in a similar position, here are five suggestions for you to consider.
