Rumour: College Basketball in NBA 2K16?

NBA 2K16 Stephen Curry Cover

There is a rumour currently making the rounds that college basketball will appear in some form during MyCAREER in NBA 2K16. As previously mentioned, the leaked achievements for the game revealed the ability to select a college early on in the mode, confirming that the story begins well before your MyPLAYER is ready to make the jump to the NBA. The question remains however, might there also be some college basketball gameplay in NBA 2K16?

YouTuber PhreezyP has done a little research, and discovered that 2K Sports has licensing agreements with the Collegiate Licensing Company, which would allow them to include certain colleges in NBA 2K16. He also notes the photos of the cover players during their college days which appear in the background of their respective covers, pointing out that “North Carolina” has been removed from Michael Jordan’s jersey on the Special Edition. Presumably, this has been done because the North Carolina Tar Heels are not CLC licensed.

While nothing is confirmed at this time, and it may seem like a long shot given the recent lawsuits involving the NCAA, it’s certainly an interesting rumour. At this point, it’s definitely something to take with a grain of salt, but it certainly would be cool if your college career is a part of MyCAREER in NBA 2K16. We’ll be sure to post any details as they become available, but in the meantime, check out Phreezy’s video below, add your thoughts in the comments, and join in the speculation in our NBA 2K16 Forum!
