LeBron in NBA Live 2001, MyTEAM, NBA 2K17, NBA Live 06 Highlights

LeBron in NBA Live 2001, MyTEAM, NBA 2K17, NBA Live 06 Highlights

If you’re not subscribed to our YouTube channel, you’re missing out on all the fun that Dee and I are having on the virtual hardwood! As I mentioned in Episode #496 of the NLSC Podcast, I recently dusted off NBA Live 2001 PC and added LeBron James to the rosters, using a face that Barnsey made way back in 2001. I took on Kobe Bryant in 1-on-1 mode, and put together a highlight reel from the game. I also threw together a mod so that you can add LeBron to NBA Live 2001 PC yourself, which you can find here.

Meanwhile, Dee continued his journey through Domination in NBA 2K24 MyTEAM, taking on the Knicks Challenges. Dee discussed some of the bargain cards that he picked up in the latest podcast, including Ben Gordon and Kevin Durant, and you can see them getting the job done in spectacular fashion. All three difficulty levels are accounted for in the highlight reel.

We also connected to play a couple of games over Parsec. The first was a clash between the 2007 Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards in NBA 2K17, using Dee’s Ultimate Classic Teams Roster. That “We Believe” Warriors team is a blast to play with, and Dee’s roster is a must-have if you’re still playing NBA 2K17 PC. We also took control of the Celtics and had an epic overtime showdown with the Lakers in NBA Live 06, using my 2010 season roster. Fortunately, a couple of blunders on my part late in regulation didn’t stop us from pulling out a satisfying victory!

Check out all of those highlight reels below! Be sure to subscribe to the NLSC YouTube channel for more great basketball gaming content, and as always, feel free to hit us up with any suggestions of games that you’d like to see us play.

NBA Live 18 Ultimate Team & NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Reel

NBA Live 18 Ultimate Team & NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Highlights

As Dee and I have discussed on the NLSC Podcast, we both enjoy dabbling with the card collecting modes in NBA Live and NBA 2K. To that end, we’ve both recently uploaded highlight reels from NBA Live 18 Ultimate Team and NBA 2K24 MyTEAM.

In my NBA Live 18 Ultimate Team reel, the 90s All-Stars are back in action! The Glove connects with The Reignman, The Dream shakes and bakes in the post, Clyde glides before finishing with force, Shaq attacks the rim without mercy, Tim Bug breaks ankles with the UTEP Two-Step, Penny shines and drops dimes, Nique is a Human Highlight Film, and Pip does a little bit of everything! My aim was to capture the spirit of the NBA in the 90s, which had us all saying “I love this game”!

Dee’s NBA 2K24 MyTEAM reel also showcases some memorable historical players, as well as current stars. Darryl Dawkins is dominating in the paint, while Robert Pack reminds us that you don’t need to be seven feet tall to leave the basket shaking! Rick Barry and Jack Sikma also get buckets, while Steph Curry is dialled in from long distance. Cover player Kobe Bryant also dazzles and shows off the Mamba Mentality as Dee completes all three 76ers Challenges in Domination.

Check out both highlight reels below! We’ll be sharing further impressions of NBA 2K24, including thoughts on MyTEAM, in the next NLSC Podcast. Stay tuned for that, and be sure to subscribe to the NLSC YouTube channel for more basketball gaming content!

NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Trailer & Courtside Report

NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Trailer & Courtside Report

The latest Courtside Report provides an insight into MyTEAM in NBA 2K24. A trailer for the mode has also been released, spotlighting what 2K are describing as “foundational changes throughout the mode”, as well as gameplay highlights from cinematic angles.

There are definitely some noteworthy changes to MyTEAM this year, including the replacement of the Auction House with the new Player Market. MyTEAM Points earnings have also been increased, XP can be earned simply by playing games rather than completing specific Agendas, and Tokens are now seasonal. As confirmed back in July, crossplay will be available between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while MyTEAM and MyCAREER will share seasonal progression.

I’ve summarised the key information from the NBA 2K24 MyTEAM Courtside Report, and you can check that out below along with the trailer. As always however, I’d recommend giving the original post a read for the full scoop. Got any thoughts? Feel free to share them in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum!

NLSC YouTube Roundup: NBA 2K23 MyTEAM, NBA 2K6, & More

NLSC YouTube Roundup: NBA 2K23 MyTEAM, NBA 2K6, & More

Because I’ve neglected to post bulletins for them over the past couple of weeks, it’s time for another roundup of recent uploads to the NLSC YouTube channel! In addition to the weekly Top 10 Plays and NLSC Podcast episodes, Dee and I are regularly uploading highlight reels from our basketball gaming sessions. To that end, some fun videos have gone up recently that you’ll really want to check out!

First up is a continuation of Dee’s campaign in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination. This time, Dee plays through all three difficulty levels of the Orlando Magic challenge, with his squad sporting custom NBA Legends jerseys. There are plenty of spectacular moments as he truly dominates the competition!

Next up, I posted a quick reel of rookie Derrick Rose highlights in NBA Live 09 for PlayStation 3, from a game I played while grabbing some screenshots for future features. While I had my PS3 hooked up, I also revisited NCAA Basketball 09 and took on the 1992 Duke Blue Devils with the 1993 Michigan Wolverines, after adding real names for all of the players.

NBA 2K11 PC is a classic that stands the test of time, as Dee demonstrates with a game between the rival Celtics and Lakers. The authenticity is off the charts in this reel, not only spotlighting the realism in NBA 2K11’s gameplay, but Dee’s understanding of hoops and the players on the floor, and his ability to play beautiful sim basketball.

I’ve been playing NBA 2K6 recently, and I plan on covering it in Wayback Wednesday soon. In the meantime however, I had an exciting comeback victory with the Bulls when I took on the Knicks, with Ben Gordon leading the charge. I also had a blast putting some 90s Legends on the Rucker Park blacktop in Street mode; you might recognise a couple of the highlights from this week’s Top 10!

Finally, Dee revisited the PS3 version of NBA 2K13 – another game that holds up superbly – to take on the Bucks using the Wizards. You can check out all of those great videos below, as well as on the NLSC YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe for more great basketball gaming videos, and as always, feel free to hit us up with any suggestions of games that you’d like to see us play!

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM & NBA 2K14 MyCAREER Videos

Even as the year draws to a close, we’re eagerly sharing our basketball gaming highlights over on the NLSC YouTube channel! Our latest videos feature highlights from NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination, and NBA 2K14 MyCAREER.

First up, Dee continues his journey through Domination in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM with the Dallas Mavericks challenges. Once again, his squad is sporting Phoenix Suns branding as he makes his way through the Southwest Division teams, and now includes several of his all-time favourite players. Dee plays through all three difficulty levels, resulting in a ton of high-flying highlights along the way.

Next up is a highlight reel from the fourth quarter of a 2018 season game from my NBA 2K14 MyCAREER. I’m trailing the Toronto Raptors 91-86 as the quarter begins, and am challenged by coach Johnny Davis to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to victory. I’ll be sharing more of my NBA 2K14 MyCAREER highlights on our channel moving forward, and this fourth quarter run in a comeback win seemed like an appropriate place to start.

A big thanks to everyone who has been supporting our video content throughout the year! As I’ve mentioned before, Dee has been spearheading an effort to produce regular videos, and now that I have a new Elgato, I’m eager to create more of that content as well. NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination: Dee4Three vs Heat

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination: Dee4Three vs Heat

As I noted earlier this week, Dee4Three is uploading a ton of gameplay footage to our YouTube channel. This includes his journey through MyTEAM Domination in NBA 2K23, with his latest matchup coming against the Miami Heat.

Dee has already assembled a squad featuring some of his all-time favourite players. In addition to the pre-order Ruby Michael Jordan soaring through the air, you’ll also see Jason Williams tossing lobs, Shaquille O’Neal throwing it down, and Xavier McDaniel bullying Heat players. All three difficulty levels are accounted for in this spectacular highlight reel featuring alley-oops, great defensive plays, effortless three-point bombs, and posterising dunks. NLSC YouTube Highlights Round-Up

NLSC YouTube Highlights Round-Up

In addition to the Top 10 Plays of the Week and full episodes of our podcast, we also upload other basketball gaming videos to the NLSC YouTube channel! I’ve fallen behind on sharing the uploads here on the NLSC itself, and to that end, I’ll be making a better effort to post bulletins featuring new videos moving forward.

That’s because in addition to curating the weekly Top 10 countdown, Dee4Three has been very prolific in uploading excellent gameplay highlights for a variety of titles, in addition of course to NBA 2K23. This includes his MyTEAM Domination highlights, as he’s currently working his way through the mode. You’ll also find playlists featuring our Parsec tournaments, co-op and competitive sessions, and more.

I’ve also put together a highlight reel from my first session in The Rec in NBA 2K23, in which Valor and I squadded up with a number of random teammates; some better than others! Kenny also joined us for some 3v3 Pro-Am games, and I’ll have a highlight reel from that session uploaded very soon. In short, please subscribe to our channel for some fantastic basketball gaming content, and in case those YouTube notifications don’t work, keep an eye out here for bulletins about our future uploads! Monday Tip-Off: Completion Is What You Make It

Monday Tip-Off: Completion Is What You Make It

We’re at midcourt, and the ball is about to go up…it’s Monday Tip-Off! Start your week here at the NLSC with a feature that’s dedicated to opinions, commentary, and other fun stuff related to NBA Live, NBA 2K, and other basketball video games. This week, I’m tipping things off with a few thoughts on how achieving completion in basketball video games is really what you make it.

Achieving completion in most video games is fairly straightforward. Any game with an ultimate win condition such as a final boss or mission/quest can clearly be finished. There may be postscript content in games that can be played after their ending, even if it’s just an opportunity to finish side quests/missions and achieve 100% completion. These objectives are usually listed somewhere in the game, allowing you to keep track of them. To that end, I can tell you which Grand Theft Auto games I’ve finished, what I’ve done in Fallout games, and how successful I’ve been in various other titles I own.

Basketball gaming is different, particularly when we’re talking about the sim titles. There are goals that you can aim for, such as winning an NBA Championship in the various season, franchise, and career modes. Simply playing every game on twelve minute quarters could be considered a form of completion, having experienced the ups and downs of an NBA campaign…then again, games can be simulated. More to the point, the depth of modern basketball games make it extremely difficult to clearly achieve completion compared to other genres. With that in mind, we have to set our own definitions of completion to achieve satisfaction before a release is outdated.

Monday Tip-Off: Thoughts on MyTEAM Seasons

We’re at midcourt, and the ball is about to go up…it’s Monday Tip-Off! Start your week here at the NLSC with a feature that’s dedicated to opinions, commentary, and other fun stuff related to NBA Live, NBA 2K, and other basketball video games. This week, I’m tipping things off with some thoughts on the new Seasons approach adopted in NBA 2K21’s MyTEAM.

One of the major changes in NBA 2K21’s MyTEAM was the adoption of Seasons. For those unfamiliar with the concept, MyTEAM Seasons run for about six weeks, with each Season featuring its own theme, content, and Challenges. While modes of play such as Domination remain unaffected by Seasons, and Triple Threat Offline simply gains new rewards as each new Season begins, Season-based content such as The Agenda has a time limit. If you have any unfinished business on The Agenda by the time a new Season begins, too bad; it’s a new day in MyTEAM.

The Seasons approach is not unique to MyTEAM and NBA 2K, of course. It’s a form of the “games as a service” model that mobile and Triple-A games alike are using with ever-increasing frequency, which invites cynicism because of the way those mechanics utilise FOMO to push microtransactions, season passes, and so on. Less cynically, however, it’s a way to keep content fresh and not overwhelm late adopters with an overabundance of content. I’m generally in favour of Seasons in MyTEAM, but I do have a few criticisms and concerns that I’d like to discuss. Along with a few other aspects of the mode, the approach could be even better in NBA 2K22.
