NBA 2K24 Patch 3.0 Released; Season 3 Update

With Season 3 tipping off this Friday, Patch 3.0 has come through for NBA 2K24! As of writing, the patch is available on all consoles, with the PC update likely dropping in time for the new Season. As always, it should come through automatically, as long as your PC or console is online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

In addition to preparing NBA 2K24 for Season 3 in MyCAREER and MyTEAM, Patch 3.0 includes new player likenesses, bug and stability fixes, and jersey sponsor updates. It also brings back the traditional East-West All-Star Game format to reflect the change to this year’s event, and improves the representation of the NBA In-Season Tournament. Season 3 celebrates OG NBA 2K cover player Allen Iverson and 25 Years of NBA 2K; more information on the rewards and events can be found here.

You can find the full release notes for Patch 3.0 below, as well as in the NBA 2K24 Current Gen and Next Gen update histories in our Wiki. I’ve also updated those resources to reflect the proper version numbers for the Season 2 patches, and added missing information for the 2.1 hotfix on Next Gen. Details on The W in NBA 2K24

Details on The W in NBA 2K24

A new Courtside Report has provided an insight into what to expect from The W in NBA 2K24. For those who are unaware, The W is the WNBA version of MyCAREER, and is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version of the game.

One of the biggest additions this year is the ability to choose your background. You can opt to be a top college prospect and number one pick, or an “undiscovered gem” who was an MVP overseas. The background that you select will come with its own perks and challenges, as well as different starting ratings.

There are also new rivalry features, pick-up games, and more rewards to collect. You can find my breakdown of the Courtside Report below, but as always, I’d recommend checking out the original article for the full scoop on The W in NBA 2K24. Feel free to share any thoughts in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum! If you missed the gameplay blog, you can find my recap of it here.

NBA 2K24 Previews Tipping Off August 14th

NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition Cover

Although the cover reveal technically tipped off the previews for NBA 2K24, the preview season obviously isn’t quite in full swing until we learn more concrete details about the game. As announced by the official NBA 2K Twitter (or X) account, in-depth previews for NBA 2K24 will begin the week of August 14th.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Week of August 14th: Gameplay with ProPLAY
  • Week of August 21st: The W, MyNBA, Mamba Moments
  • Week of August 28th: MyCAREER, The City, MyTEAM
  • Week of September 4th: Season 1 in MyTEAM and MyCAREER

A reminder that ProPLAY, The W, MyNBA, and The City will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S version. The prior gen consoles and PC port will retain MyLEAGUE, basic WNBA content, and The Neighborhood in MyCAREER. However, this roadmap does confirm the leaked Mamba Moments mode, and seemingly for both generations.

NBA 2K24 is scheduled for release on September 8th. Pre-orders have been open since July 7th; if you’re interested and need a refresher on the bonuses, you can find them here. I will of course be aggregating the news throughout the preview season, and discussing it with Dee on the NLSC Podcast, so stay tuned!

NLSC Podcast #441: NBA 2K23 MyTEAM, The W, & Other Wins

NLSC Podcast Logo

From courtside of the virtual hardwood, it’s Episode #441 of the NLSC Podcast!

The latest developer blogs delivered some more great news about NBA 2K23, this time concerning MyTEAM and The W. As release day looms, we’re allowing ourselves to feel optimistic. We also revisited NBA Live 2001 this week, while dusting off an old retro season mod. It produced a dramatic win, but we were reminded that the game can be very hit and miss! A session with NBA Inside Drive 2003 yielded a fun Easter egg, though a reply to a Tweet about it prompts us to defend retro basketball gaming once again. There are also a couple of recent retro pickups to reflect upon, updates on our NBA 2K19 MyLEAGUE and NBA 2K14 MyCAREER games to share, and a mailbag question about using players out of position.

To get involved with the mailbag or to provide any feedback on the show, hit us up in the comments, reach out on social media, or post here in the NLSC Forum! For more information on the NLSC Podcast including episode guides, check out this page in our Wiki. You can also find the show on our YouTube channel, along with the rest of our video content. As always, thanks for tuning in, and go get buckets!

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Removes Contracts, Adds Modes

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Removes Contracts, Adds Modes

Following on from the insight into WNBA content, the latest NBA 2K23 developer blog provides a deep dive into MyTEAM. There are several additions and enhancements this year, including a highly requested change: the removal of contracts!

This change has been cited as an effort to enhance the fun and accessibility of the mode. Other enhancements include the addition of new modes such as Triple Threat Online: Co-Op, and single player Clutch Time. Various reward systems have been revamped, and player lock is available throughout MyTEAM’s modes. The era-specific presentation from the revamped Jordan Challenge and MyNBA Eras will also be utilised in various Challenges and Domination games.

As always, I recommend checking out the NBA 2K23 MyTEAM blog for the full scoop, but I’ve also summarised the key information below. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in our Forum!

NBA 2K22 Patch 1.6 Out Now on PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X

NBA 2K22 Patch 1.6

As you may have seen, Patch 1.6 has come through for NBA 2K22 Next Gen. The patch should begin downloading automatically as long as your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S is online. If it doesn’t come through, try restarting your console or checking for updates manually.

Patch 1.6 includes 39 likeness updates for both current and historical NBA and WNBA players. It also resolves some issues in MyCAREER quests, and a rare disconnect that was occurring in The W Online. A few problems in MyTEAM have also been addressed, and injuries have been disabled in Draft games.

The update originally caused some corruption issues with user data and saves, which 2K has ascribed to temporary server problems. It appears as though the issue has since been resolved for some people, but if you are still encountering difficulties, you may want to open a ticket with 2K Support.

You can find the full notes for Patch 1.6 below, as well as in our NBA 2K22 Next Gen update history. Feel free to add your thoughts and impressions in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum.
